Buying a new Honda Click 125i in Thailand is an easy process and can be completed from start to finish in a few hours. The Honda Click 125i is a very popular motorcycle in Thailand and can be purchased from Honda retailers all over the country. Pattaya has four main locations that sell the Honda Click 125i and are all Mityon dealerships.

Honda Mityon locations include; North Pattaya (intersection of Pattaya Nua and 3rd Road), Pattaya Klang (Central Pattaya Road opposite Big C Extra), Pattaya Tai (intersection of South Pattaya Road and 3rd Road) and Soi Buakhao (intersection of Soi Buakhao and South Pattaya Road).

The Honda Click 125i has 3 variants: Tune Up (47,200), Racing (48,700) and Idle Stop (52,500 Baht). These are drive away prices and include: name transfer, motor vehicle tax, compulsory insurance and license plate. The sales person will offer you theft insurance for an additional 2,000 Baht and this is optional.

The 1,500 Baht price difference between the Tune Up and Racing variants is a different coloured plastic and sticker set. The Idle stop model for an extra 5,300 Baht has more useful features for the price difference. These features include: tubeless tyres compared to tubes in the Tune Up and Racing models and 5 spoke rims instead of the regular steel rims. There is an idle stop switch that when activated cuts the motor after 2-3 seconds of bringing the bike to a stop and restarts the engine upon twisting the throttle. This is a good feature to save fuel when the motorcycle is stationary, however I feel that the rider is capable of manually turning off the engine when needed.

The last difference is the combi brake; when squeezing only the left brake caliper both front and rear brake are automatically triggered. This seems silly because the rider should be using 2 hands whilst riding and apply both brakes when slowing down. The Honda Click 125i bikes come with a 5 year warranty on the engine and gearbox and 3 year on the electrical system.

To buy a new Honda Click 125i you will need the following:

Your passport (foreign name) or a Thai ID card (Thai person)
Residency Certificate (foreign name) from Jomtien Immigration (300 Baht)
Money paid in full. Usually Thai bank notes stack of 1000 Baht bills

The Honda Click 125i will be delivered locally while you wait if it is not already at the dealership. Next a mechanic will prepare and check your bike whilst your money is being counted and the administration is finalised. It will have a dealer issued red license plate and after 2 months will be replaced with a white plate in the local province. Your details: name and address are printed into the green book that is used to prove ownership of the vehicle. This is required annually to pay for motor vehicle tax and in the future once decided to sell the bike.

Before you drive away you should look at the bike and check it is in satisfactory condition, everything works and it has not been scratched or damaged. Once your new Honda Click 125i leaves the dealership it is unlikely any complaint of damage would be successful.

The Honda Click 125i must be registered and insured annually. The cost is 105 Baht if you choose to pay the motor vehicle tax at the Banglamung Motor Registry. This will result in driving out to Highway 36 and paying directly to the government. The payment will be printed in your green book and may take a number of hours from start to finish along with fuel and the cost of your time. Insurance can be purchased from AA Insurance Brokers near Big C South Pattaya for 323 Baht. This takes less than 5 minutes and you will receive a printed certificate.

Agents provide a service where you deposit your green book and pay a fee for the renewal to be processed without having to perform the task yourself. This usually takes 2 weeks to be completed. The fee for this service adds between 300 to 600 Baht to the total. Mityon Soi Buakhao location is quite fair for providing such services.

Mityon Soi Buakhao 12.924077, 100.879254
Mityon Service Center 12.920208, 100.889594

Maintenance and repairs are no longer carried out at the Mityon dealerships, but at the Mityon Service Center located on South Pattaya road opposite soi 10. Their prices are very fair and the service center supplies and fits genuine Honda parts. The Center is open 6 days per week and closed Sunday.

If purchasing a new Honda Click scooter is not an option for you then you might consider buying a used motorcycle.

I want to know the price of the Honda Click 125i in dollars. Is the exchange rate good to buy or should I wait?

    • PTB April 23, 2015 at 8:55 PM

The USD exchange rate is about 32.3 Baht per dollar. It’s best to buy one and enjoy it rather than worrying about the exchange rate going up or down and it will save you the cost of renting a bike. The new 2015 Honda Click 125i cost about 50,000 Baht or $1,548 USD.
